RESUME 2012
I began drawing at a very early age; I believe I was
two when I first picked up a pencil to draw a rabbit, from
that moment on I was mesmerized by the magic of drawing.
At age seven I attended Pasadena Art Center to study
sculpture and painting; my first painting was exhibited
at the center. Another influential experience during this
early period occurred when my uncle showed me how to
draw geometric shapes. Technically, I never learned how
to draw. I have always felt drawing to be a natural process
- coming from within.
After receiving a B.A. degree in Art from University of
California at Santa Cruz, I continued drawing and exhibiting.
However, in 1981, I entered the computer world working in
Silicon Valley for Ask Computer and Sun Microsystems in the
Software Engineering divisions, co-developing new systems
and products for the information age. In 2003, I began
experimenting with Information Technology. Although, I
am continuing this exploration, drawing always remains,
‘the heart’ of my work.
I wish to express my sincerest appreciation to my family, loyal friends, professors, art professionals, and foundations,
who have generously supported my artistic vision.
Kindest regards— Julia d'Arcy
